Samsung began rolling out One UI 4 to the Galaxy S21 series this week. The new UI brings Android 12, making Samsung one of the first companies after Google, to release a stable version of Android 12 for its smartphones. The manufacturer has now released a rollout schedule for eligible Galaxy smartphones in the U.S.
Samsung has come a long way from its days of being bad at updating its devices. Now, it’s one of the top brands when it comes to software support by offering longer support duration and timely updates, sometimes even arrive before Google releases them for its own Pixel smartphones.
The One UI 4 rollout schedule for Galaxy smartphone owners in the U.S. was posted within the Samsung Members app according to Android Authority. However, Samsung states that the update schedule could change, but it still gives users an idea of when they should expect the update to arrive on their devices. Following the release of the update for the Galaxy S21 series this month, Samsung will release One UI 4 for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, its latest foldable smartphones announced in August. The update should be particularly exciting for owners of these devices, though it is not certain that the features of Android 12L will be included in the update
Flagships First, Budget Models Last
Samsung’s focus will be on its flagship phones first which should not come as a surprise. The One UI 4 update will land on the Galaxy S20 Plus, Galaxy S20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE in January 2022. Other devices that will receive the update in the same month include Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Fold, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. For the month of February, the rollout will extend to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy A52 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S7/Tab S7+. Surprisingly, only the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is scheduled to get updated in March 2022 and that’s even the Wi-Fi version. The 5G version won’t get the update until April 2022 but after the Galaxy A51 (4G and 5G), and Galaxy A71 5G. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is also scheduled for an April date.
Samsung will continue the rollout in May, and by that time, Google may have announced Android 13. The Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A42 5G, Galaxy Tab S6, Galaxy Tab A7 (2020), and Galaxy Tab Active 3 are the devices planned to be updated that month. In June, the update should arrive for the Galaxy XCover Pro, and the budget tablet, Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The Galaxy A21 and Galaxy A12 will be updated in July 2022 while the entry-level Galaxy A02s, Galaxy A01, and Galaxy A11 are all scheduled to be updated to Android 12 in August 2022.
