Pokemon Go is as busy as ever with new events, and the middle of September brings the chance to grab some rare shinies and celebrate another year’s Fashion Week. The Psychic Spectacular is still going, too, ushering in a new set of Raid bosses. There’s also a lot happening in the Go Battle League, including the first Go Battle Day.

As always, we’ve got all the details you need for Pokemon Go this week—plus a little preview of what you can expect going into next week, too.

Lake Guardians

Always an exciting event, the Lake Guardians are returning to Raids this week. This time around, Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie will be available in their shiny forms. If you’re extremely lucky, you might be able to capture one.

Unfortunately, they’re still region-locked, so if you need the other two from outside your region, you’ll need to find someone to invite you. Luckily, there are a ton of groups for such a thing on Discord, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Just check online or see if your local community has any groups that can help.

The Lake Guardians return to raids on Tuesday (September 14) at 10am local time. They’ll be headlining raids until October 1 at 10am local time. Here’s where you’ll find each:

This week’s Raid Hour and Spotlight Hour events will both continue the list of Psychic-type Pokemon getting a boost as part of the ongoing Season of Mischief.

On Tuesday, September 14, at 6pm local time, Baltoy will be in the spotlight. You’ll see a ton of them spawning for the full hour. The special bonus this time around is 2x Catch XP.

Raid Hour this week will feature the Lake Guardians, Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie (locked to their respective regions, of course). They’ll be spawning in Tier 5 Raids on most gyms on Wednesday, September 15, from 6pm to 7pm local time.

Go Battle League News

There are some big things happening in the Go Battle League this week, so let’s get right into it.

Ultra League and Ultra League Remix Begin

On Monday, September 13, at 4pm EDT, the Great League and Great League Remix will both be ending. Then, immediately afterward, the Ultra League and Ultra League Remix will both begin. They’ll run until Monday, September 27, at 4pm EDT.

The Ultra League only allows Pokemon that are CP 2,500 and below. In the Ultra League Remix, you won’t be able to use the ten most commonly used Pokemon by Trainers with the Ace rank or higher.

The banned Pokemon include:

  • Alolan Muk
  • Clefable
  • Cresselia
  • Empoleon
  • Giratina (Altered Form)
  • Melmetal
  • Obstagoon
  • Swampert
  • Talonflame
  • Togekiss

Go Battle Day

For the first time ever, Trainers can participate in a Go Battle Day. Basically, Go Battle Nights are being replaced with an all-day event.

The inaugural Battle Day is scheduled for this coming Saturday (September 18) from 12am to 11:59pm local time—so, the whole day.

You’ll be able to participate in 20 sets of battles on this date, which means 100 battles total (up from five sets or 20 battles).

You’ll also receive quadruple Stardust for winning battles (this doesn’t increase the rewards at the end of a set, though).

Psychic Spectacular

The Psychic Spectacular is coming to an end this week. On Monday, September 13, at 8pm local time, the event ends. Here’s a reminder of what’s going on for the event, so you know what’s wrapping up:

  • Boosted spawns of Psychic-type Pokemon: Abra, Slowpoke, Drowzee, Natu, Wobbuffet, Ralts, Baltoy, Woobat, Gothita, Solosis, Elgyem, and Inkay
  • Event-exclusive Field Research
  • Inkay photobombs
  • Psychic-type inspired Stickers

It’s unclear just how common Inkay will be after the event ends, so make sure you get one (and hopefully evolve it) before 8pm on Monday, just in case.

News & Next Week: Oshawott Community Day, Fashion Week

We’ll have a full outline of what’s going on next week closer to the start of it, but for those of you looking to start planning, we’ve got a little rundown of what to expect.

News

October Community Day: Niantic has revealed that Duskull will be the featured Pokemon for October’s Community Day. Duskull Community Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 9. Any Dusclops that evolves into Dusknoir during the event window will learn Shadow Ball. There will be Timed Research that awards up to four Sinnoh Stones, a bundle in the shop with 30 Ultra Balls, exclusive Special Research that can be accessed by purchasing a ticket closer to the date, and more.

Safari Zones: Postponed Safari Zone events in Liverpool, Philadelphia, and St. Louis have been rescheduled. If you purchased a ticket for any of them, you’ll be able to participate from anywhere in the world. However, if you will be near the original location and want to play there, you’ll need to RSVP. You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to do just that, so be sure to check your email. Check out Niantic’s post for more details.

Secrets of the Jungle event: To celebrate the global release of Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, Niantic has announced that an event will take place in Pokemon Go. They haven’t released any details, but this isn’t the first tie-in event that the game has had for this movie. In 2020, an event based on the movie allowed participants to catch a shiny Celebi. We’ll have to wait for more details. The film releases on Netflix on October 8.

Oshawott Community Day

Duskull may be coming around to mark the spooky season next month, but this month, we still have a Community Day to look forward to. The special Pokemon will be Oshawott, and the event will take place this Sunday, September 19, from 11am to 5pm local time. Evolve any Dewott before 7pm local time for the resulting Samurott to learn Hydro Cannon!

This event comes with all the normal stuff: Special Research, photobombs, stickers, and more. Check out our Community Day guide for full details on the event.

Fashion Week

Next week will see the return of the Fashion Week event, the first of which took place in 2020. Last year, Trainers could catch Kirlia, Shinx, Croagunk, and Smoochum with stylish outfits, so we can probably expect costumed Pokemon again this year. We don’t have specific details as of yet.

However, the most exciting aspect of the event is the seeming release of Furfou, a Pokemon originally from the Kalos region. In the Gen VI games, Furfou could be trimmed by a barber to have different forms. It’s unclear if these will release as part of the Fashion Week event this year, but it looks like Furfrou’s standard form is definitely arriving, as the official Pokemon Go Twitter account posted a silhouette of it.
