“Toss A Coin To Your Witcher”, the viral song sung by Jaskier in Netflix’s The Witcher series, only took co-executive producer Jenny Klein 10 minutes to write. Despite the song becoming a pop culture phenomenon, it appears that it simply came from a burst of inspiration instead of hours of hard work.
Not only was the song only written in 10 minutes, but Klein also admitted that it was her very first time writing lyrics of any sort. Despite the inexperience, she stated that she really wasn’t intimidated by the task and enjoys writing in any form. “Worst case scenario, they don’t use it,” she said.

Klein also explained that she took a lot of inspiration from reading The Witcher novels before penning the tune. She specifically mentions recognizing that Geralt often isn’t paid for the work he does, nor is he really appreciated by the general population. She came up with the chorus while driving, pulled over to record a voice memo, and then rushed home to finish the song.
Even if you haven’t watched The Witcher yet, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ve heard, “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher”, in one scenario or another. After all, the song has been covered in countless other genres, it received its own Beat Saber level, and even cracked the Top 100 charts in the UK.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the show’s second season attempts to bring another catchy tune to the lute of Jaskier. Known as Dandelion in the American novels and video games, Jaskier is easily one of the more iconic characters in The Witcher universe. A season 2 song is unlikely to receive the same amount of attention as the original, but we’re definitely not complaining about more music from the bard.
The Witcher season 2 is currently in production with a release date scheduled for some time in 2021. The show will introduce a whole new handful of characters, as we continue to follow the stories of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. Considering showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich reportedly has seven seasons worth of stories lined up, there’s a good chance we’re going to hear new music from the universe down the road.
