Hideo Kojima has shared his impressions of Twelve Minutes, saying that it “kinda makes me want to create another adventure game”.

Twelve Minutes released earlier this week on Xbox and has caused quite the discussion amongst gamers, who seem split on the title and its twisting narrative. One person who seems to think very highly of the game is none other than Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima.

Kojima shared his impressions of the game on Twitter, as he often does with things he’s watched or played, saying, “TWELVE MINUTES. It’s Great! I lost track of time and just played it for about four hours! I haven’t been into a game this much since INSIDE. A time loop adventure game and a good sense of style. Once you get used to the overhead view and the controls, you won’t mind. It’s a game using intelligence. It’s like the Amiga games I used to play. I still haven’t cleared it yet, but it’s fun. I’m afraid of Dafoe’s visit!”

Later on, Kojima continued to Tweet about Twelve Minutes, saying, “Kinda make me want to create another adventure game”, which was received very well by Twitter with over 52,000 likes. The adventure games that Kojima is referring to here are Policenauts and Snatcher, two titles that he worked on when he was with Konami.

Following that Tweet, Kojima continued to praise the game, putting particular focus on Willam Dafoe’s performance. He said, “Even now, I feel like Dafoe is going to come in the front door in ten or so minutes… Normally I’d welcome him, as I’m a huge fan of him, but after playing TWELVE MINUTES, I’m afraid he’s going to punch me. Nice casting though”.

It’s not clear if Kojima has finished the game yet, but it’ll be interesting to see his reactions once he has, as the conversation surrounding Twelve Minutes has mostly been focused on some of the narrative twists and turns it takes. Kojima loves a good plot twist, so it’ll probably be right up his alley.
