With Vanderpump Rules season 9 being on the air, many fans think that the long-running series has finally run its course and is nearing its end. Season 9 came after a major cast shakeup that saw four cast members fired and another three who quit or were also let go. With all the drastic changes and a two-year break from filming, the season 9 dynamic has been drastically different. Now, some viewers seem to be checking out and think Lisa Vanderpump’s spin-off is coming to a close unless some more changes are made.

What started as a restaurant filled with young, rambunctious servers (a.k.a. SURvers) evolved and turned into married couples, new moms, and little to no interaction at Lisa’s eatery. Last year, fans saw the shocking departures of Stassi Schoeder, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Max Boyens, Brett Caprioni, and Dayna Kathan. Given that Jax, Stassi, and Kristen were among the biggest pot-stirrers on the show, fans knew the show was doomed once they were let go. On top of that, the majority of the remaining cast no longer work at Lisa’s SUR restaurant, which also takes away from the original essence of the show. In season 9, the show dynamic is completely off and more viewers are speaking about the show’s slow fall from grace.

As the SURvers grew and matured, the show was likely to change. Viewers had already watched two couples tie the knot and were expecting a number of others to follow suit. The ladies’ pregnancy pact also saw Stassi, Brittany, Lala Kent, and Scheana Shay all welcome babies within months of each other. No longer are they young and inexperienced staff members that Lisa hired to work at her restaurant over a decade ago. But what could have turned into a drama-filled family show has turned into some strange adulthood counseling session between Lisa and her former employees who weren’t fired from Bravo. While it’s nice to see the couples that are left, viewers note that Vanderpump Rules season 9 is nothing like the first eight seasons of the show.

While it is always possible for Vanderpump Rules to be revamped or rebranded on Bravo in order to follow another one of Lisa’s restaurants, the current status of the show is in great need of a makeover. Viewers are suggesting that Lisa maybe follow her actual wait staff at one of her other establishments or consider an even bigger cast shakeup. Lala hasn’t worked at SUR for years and is now married to a successful filmmaker, so she doesn’t need reality TV and isn’t being well-received as one of the central figures on the show. Scheana, James, Katie, and Ariana Maddix also don’t work for Lisa. Their scenes with Lisa come off more like a parent and child meeting than a boss reprimanding her staff like in past seasons.

With Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval being part-owners at Tom Tom, they could possibly do their own spin-off following their bar. But when it comes to the current state of Vanderpump Rules, things do need to change. The show’s biggest stars are gone, and the ones that are left are more mature and no longer displaying the wild behavior that made them fan favorites. Jax is probably not made at how poorly the show is appealing to viewers. He has always said that he’s the “number one guy.” It looks like there isn’t a show without Jax, Stassi, and Kristen.
