Some of the best builds in Warframe require Corrupted Mods—powerful Rare Mods that have positive and negative traits. With the right build, you can mitigate these negatives to create builds with 300% Power Strength, capped Efficiency, or weapons that deal an absurd amount of damage.
Of course, you’re going to have to earn these Mods and upgrade them before you can make a build of that magnitude. In this guide, we’ll be showcasing what Corrupted Mods are, how to open the Orokin Vaults that contain them, how you can craft the Dragon Keys, and give a brief rundown of what every Corrupted Mod does.
What Are Corrupted Mods?
Corrupted Mods are a unique type of rare mod with one positive and negative attribute. These positive effects are incredibly powerful, granting up to +99% Ability Strength or +60% Ability Efficiency. Conversely, they also come with some rather major negatives. As you rank up a Corrupted Mod, both its positive and negative values will increase. Depending on your build, you might not want to max a Corrupted Mod’s rank.
How To Obtain Corrupted Mods
Players can find Corrupted Mods on Deimos. Most of the missions on Deimos take place on an Infested Orokin Derelict tileset. All Derelict missions, excluding Assassination, can spawn an Orokin Vault. By using a Dragon Key, you can unlock the Orokin Vault to receive an ancient Artifact. Escort the Artifact successfully to extraction to receive a random Corrupted Mod.
Be careful, as grabbing the Artifact will cause Corrupted soldiers to spawn. The Artifact will also apply a random Dragon Key debuff, stacking with any other equipped Dragon Keys. If you’re struggling to fight the Infested on the nodes, the Corrupted will certainly give you trouble. Bring a good Warframe before you attempt to farm these Orokin Vaults.
What Are Dragon Keys?
Dragon Keys are gear items that are required to open Orokin Vaults. Opening an Orokin Vault will require that you have the correct key in your Gear menu.
There are four types of Dragon Keys. Unlike most gear, Dragon Keys impose a massive penalty on your character’s stats while equipped.
- Bleeding Dragon Key: -75% maximum HP while equipped
- Decaying Dragon Key: -75% maximum Shields while equipped
- Extinguished Dragon Key: -75% damage while equipped
- Hobbled Dragon Key: -50% movement speed while equipped
Opening an Orokin Vault will require that you have the correct key in your Gear menu. You can equip all four Dragon Keys simultaneously, but beware that you’ll be affected by all four Dragon Key negatives at once. Once you’ve opened an Orokin Vault, the Dragon Key you used will be consumed.
All Dragon Key penalties are applied after Mods and other effects are taken into account. In other words, 75% stat reduction is truly reducing said stat by 75%, regardless of build.
How To Obtain Dragon Keys
You can find Dragon Key blueprints in the Orokin Lab of any Clan Dojo. Join a clan, then head to the Orokin Lab to create a reusable blueprint of each key.
Crafting a Dragon Key costs the following:
- 500 Credits
- 250 Ferrite
- 10 Void Traces
Each key takes one minute to build.
Equipping Dragon Keys
Once you’ve built a Dragon Key, you’ll need to equip it in your Gear wheel. To access the Gear menu:
The Fastest Corrupted Mod Farm
The fastest Corrupted Mod farm is Horend, Deimos. This is a low-level Capture mission that always spawns an Orokin Vault. Equip a fast Warframe, rush towards the target, and keep your eyes peeled for an Orokin Vault on your way to evac. The Orokin Vault is a small room that can only spawn at normal-sized doorframes. If you’re struggling to attempt this farm solo, consider getting a team together. Have each person run a single Dragon Key to make the mission easier. With the right build, you can clear this mission in about two minutes.
Some good Warframes for speedrunning Derelict Capture missions include:
- Gauss: Mach Rush and Redline are great for speedrunning.
- Best for solo.
- Nezha: Spec for Parkour movement to mitigate the Hobbled Key’s downside.
- Best for solo.
- Titania: She moves so fast in Razorwing that the Hobbled Key’s downside is inconsequential.
- Best for solo.
- Volt: Use a Power Strength build to enhance the strength of Speed.
- Excellent for team runs.
- Wisp: Build for Strength and use Haste Motes.
- Excellent for team runs.
- Best for solo.

Every Corrupted Mod
Extracting an Artifact will grant one random Corrupted Mod. You cannot influence which items drop from the Artifact; it’s all up to RNG. There are 23 Corrupted Mods you can obtain, split between Warframes, Primaries, Secondaries, and Melee weapons.
