Here are the locations where King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword was shot. Guy Ritchie’s career has been a wild ride, which began with 1998’s gangster comedy Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. After that became a word of mouth smash, the director has jumped from major blockbusters like his Sherlock Holmes duology and Aladdin, to smaller fare like RocknRolla and 2005’s critical lambasted oddity Revolver, starring Jason Statham and Andre 3000.

King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword was Ritchie’s shot at a fantasy epic and reimagines the classic story. The movie featured a great cast, including Charlie Hunnam (Sons Of Anarchy), Jude Law and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey and some impressive visuals, but sadly the resulting movie fell flat and was surprisingly dull at times. It was famously also touted as the first entry in a six-film series, but the movie was a box-office bomb upon release, which quickly put thoughts of a franchise to rest.

If nothing else, King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword featured some beautiful scenery to go along with its battle sequences. To coincide with the movie’s 2017 release an illustrated map with a rundown of key locations from Arthurian legends was released, which also highlighted filming locations for Ritchie’s film.

King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword was literally shot all over the map in the UK, with locations including Snowdonia National Park in Wales, which features snow-peaked mountains and is where Excaliber itself is said to rest. The scene where Arthur throws his sword into a lake was filmed near Nant Gwynant. Other locations include Isle of Skye in Scotland, and Fjaðrárgljúfur in Iceland, which contains a huge canyon.

Despite the failure of King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, both Ritchie and Charlie Hunnam have moved on and reunited for The Gentleman. Hunnam recently opened up about issues the movie experienced during production, including a key role that was miscast and ended up being mostly cut out. He feels this ended up “crippling” the story, though he didn’t name the performer in question. King Arthur came at a time when studios were looking to create their own cinematic universes, with several attempts such as The Mummy failing to launch. At least in the case of King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, the movie felt more self-contained, but its doubtful many viewers left the cinema dying to see more of Ritchie’s take on the legend. At the very least, they were treated to some beautiful scenery dotted throughout the story.
