Witcher Season 2 Actor Reveals New Character Looking Into Ciri’s Bloodline

Liz Carr joins the cast of The Witcher in its second season as Fenn of Codringher and Fenn, who investigate Freya Allen’s Ciri, and her ancestry. Carr stars alongside Simon Callow (Hawkeye) as Codringher, joining Allen and Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series. Season 2 of the hit fantasy series is set to air on the platform on December 17th.

Season 1 of The Witcher concluded with Ciri and Geralt fulfilling Renfri of Creyden’s (Emma Appleton) prophecy by finally meeting in a forest, altering the course of his destiny forever. However, with Geralt mourning the supposed loss of Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), the pair take refuge in Geralt’s childhood home of Kaer Morhen. In order to understand more about the mystery surrounding Ciri, the sorcerer Istredd (Royce Pierreson) recruits the law firm of Fenn and Codringher to discover the truth. Carr and Callow joined the cast as Fenn and Codringher in an announcement made in March 2021, and now Carr has opened up about her role.

Speaking to What To Watch, Carr discussed her and Callow’s characters, as well as their role in the series. Carr revealed that at the bookshop from which they operate their firm, Fenn and Condringher are seen as a source of intel to many. Teasing their involvement with Istredd, Carr said that though Istredd came to them for help, it remains to be seen if they can uncover Ciri’s past. Carr also opened up about her time in the role, saying she enjoyed Fenn’s curiosity and eccentricities, and while she was disappointed in Fenn’s more human appearance, her intelligence shouldn’t be dismissed. Check out Carr’s full breakdown of Fenn below:

“Fenn and Codringher are a legal team and detective agency, who run their outfit from a dusty old bookshop. If you want to know anything in this world, then they’re the people to ask, and Istredd wants answers to Cirilla’s bloodline, who she is and where she comes from. But whether they can tell him remains to be seen…

Fenn’s great. She has a curiosity about the world and about life. She’s smart, eccentric, and colorful in every sense, including her appearance. When I got the job I was like, ‘do I have pointy ears or special powers?’ Those were my two big questions, but unfortunately, Fenn’s a human, although her power of intelligence shouldn’t be dismissed!”

Though Fenn and Codringher’s hiring differs from the books, where Geralt recruited the pair, they are the characters to be introduced from the source material. Geralt’s mentor Vesemir joins the cast, portrayed by Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), after previously being teased in a vocal cameo in the first season. Voiced by Theo James (Castlevania), Vesemir’s origin story was fully explored in the animated spin-off prequel film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

With Fenn and Codringher joining The Witcher’s cast, the series promises to further explore Ciri’s potential. Not only will the series see Ciri learn from Geralt the skills required to hunt monsters, but the extent of her magical powers will be delved into. With armies targeting her, Ciri and Geralt’s trials have only just begun, as they face the horrors the world of The Witcher has to offer.
