IGN’s Miranda Sanchez got to experience Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City and made a discovery that will please the patiently waiting fans. During her preview, Sanchez confirmed that while meandering through the alleys of the city, she was able to pet the cats.
Thanks to CD Projeck Red’s media outlets, players were able to get a taste of the Cyberpunk night life. Allowing around four hours of exploration through the neon hue, gamers were able to experience the full extent of the game’s scale and absorb the details of an open-world labyrinth. The possibilities were endless for the lucky few who managed to partake in some hands-on time with the game and, while some wanted to indulge in the main story, others were happy to roam freely.
Sanchez chose to explore the majority of Night City, detailed in her blog here. After attempting to grab every collectible and discarded piece of trash in sight in hopes of crafting, Sanchez stumbled upon a rare and rather important discovery. “Oh, and I Pet a Cat! That’s very important. I didn’t see any dogs for you dog people out there.” Commenting on the absence of wandering dogs has now provoked players to make it their mission to find them upon the game’s release.
Video games have had a long history of placing beautiful wildlife within arms reach whilst making it impossible to interact. Unless you have gone the full mile and indulged in some artificial pet games, the chances of petting the in-game animals on your journey becomes a personal test for the game’s mechanics. Games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess allows Link to play fetch and even carry a puppy around Castle Town, whereas the recent Final Fantasy VII Remake only allowed Cloud to stare longingly at the stray felines with the disappoint of not being able to pet them.
CD Projekt Red has done nothing but flaunt Cyberpunk 2077’s extensive open-world centered around the main protagonist V. It promoted itself as a game for all, offering a compelling story as well as endless exploration for gamers who prefer to spend their time with side quests and collectibles.
The prospect of sneaking around the rougher districts of Night City is sweetened with the knowledge that cat petting is just around the corner.
