The Dark Magician is one of the most iconic monsters in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. Known for being one of Yugi’s most faithful monsters and also wearing one of the most powerful purple jumpsuits in all of existence, there are few that can match his power level. If this magician were to find himself in the world of Pokémon, which creatures would he be able to take down, and which would defeat him?
10 Could Defeat: Hariyama
Hariyama is a powerful Pokémon introduced to the series in generation three, and its fighting prowess is simply unmatched. It can take down many enemies, but the Dark Magician is not one of them. Hariyama works best when it gets in close, and Dark Magician can attack from afar, meaning that Hariyama would never even get a fair shot at the monster before it was taken down.
9 Would Lose To: Mew
Mew is one of the most powerful Pokémon in existence. It has the DNA of every Pokémon inside of it, allowing it to learn every single move known to man. Thus, whatever strategy is needed to take down the Dark Magician, Mew has at the ready. Need to be on the defensive? Ready to take a shot? Mew has access to so many strategies that it’s simply impossible for the Dark Magician to come up with a way to defeat them all, even if he were able to hold off Mew for some time.

Altaria might be a strong creature that is capable of moving in quickly, but Dark Magician would still be able to take this Pokémon down, even if it ends up as quite the challenge.
See, Altaria only has access to a few different strategies that would be viable against the Dark Magician, and all that the Yu-Gi-Oh! monster needs to do in this case is stay on the defensive. Xatu is a terrifying Pokémon that spends most of its time dreading the future, as it sees essentially all of time at all of the times. However, this gives Dark Magician an incredibly difficult fight, as Xatu can see every move that Dark Magician is prepared to make. Xatu is never going to be blindsided, it knows everything that it has to in order to take on Dark Magician, meaning that there’s basically no way that it is going to lose.
6 Could Defeat: Gigalith
Gigalith is a terrifying Rock-type Pokémon that has a ton of power. It can take on virtually any creature that it wants to, save for, well, one very large group of creatures, those that have the power of levitation. Gigalith can throw all of the rocks that it wants to at Dark Magician, but it will never be fast enough to get Dark Magician back on the ground, meaning that it will, similarly to a few other Pokémon on the list, never even get a fair shake at Dark Magician.
5 Would Lose To: Wobbuffet
Wobbuffet is a strong Pokémon that is unlike any other, as it really doesn’t launch any attacks of its own. Instead, it redirects its opponent’s attacks back at them.
This means that Dark Magician will never actually be able to hit Wobbuffet harder than it hits him. This simply puts the Dark Magician in a position where he can’t win, no matter what strategy he tries to employ.
4 Could Defeat: Goodra
Goodra is an incredibly strong Pokémon, that much is clear. And it does have a bit of range when it comes to its attacks, still, the Dark Magician is going to be able to overwhelm it. The Dark Magician has attacks that are going to reach further, and plenty of tools to dodge all attacks that Goodra launches at it with ease.
3 Would Lose To: Cresselia
Cresselia is a Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon that has a ton of power that is similar to the Dark Magician’s magical powers, and her defenses are out of this world. She has a ton of tools to power herself up, keep herself healthy, and dish out some powerful attacks. While Dark Magician might be able to deal some damage, Cresselia is going to win this one.
2 Could Defeat: Naganadel
Naganadel is an incredibly powerful Poison-type Ultra Beast that is going to put up a solid fight against Dark Magician, and the two are going to be very evenly matched when it gets down to the fight. Honestly, Naganadel might be able to swing a victory, but Dark Magician’s evasive maneuvers and defensive prowess are going to give him a bit of an edge.

Eternatus is an absolutely massive Pokémon with two forms, one of which that has base stats that are… obscene? Out of this work? Impossible? No matter how strong the Dark Magician is, it will not be able to overpower Eternatus, no matter how hard he tries.
