Game of Thrones isn’t all that different from the world of Pokémon. Both involve a lot of battles, strange creatures that are somewhat magical, and lots of traveling around meeting new people and experiencing different ways of life, although, in Game of Thrones, these events and meetings are a lot more dangerous and deadly and are less fun than a trek around a Pokémon world.

Still, it’s interesting to consider which Pokémon various Game of Thrones characters might team up with if they had the opportunity. Here are 10 Game of Thrones characters and the Pokémon that would be their partners.

10 Joffrey Baratheon And Wobbuffet

Joffrey is a childish king, and he has something of a temper. This makes him both unreliable and unpredictable, though he seems like he shouldn’t be much of a threat. Wobbuffet is a Pokémon with a similar nature.

Though it, as a rule, isn’t that interested in fighting, it is pretty territorial, particularly when it comes to people getting close to its tail, and it’s liable to lash out because of this. It also doesn’t like to be out in the sun, and it mostly hides away in its home to avoid it, similar to the way Joffrey surrounds himself with comfortable situations.

9 Olenna Tyrell And Roserade

Olenna Tyrell is the grandmother of Margaery Tyrell, who ends up marrying Joffrey Baratheon and later Tommen Baratheon. Joffrey is a pretty awful person, who is more obsessed with his own power than he is actually interested in being a good king, and he is often cruel to the people around him.

Olenna isn’t interested in letting her granddaughter be a victim of his cruelty, so she poisons him on their wedding day. Roserade is, therefore, the perfect Pokémon partner for Olenna, since it is a Poison-Type and would be able to help her with these kinds of cunning plans. It also helps that the Tyrell sigil is also a rose!

8 Cersei Lannister And Hitmonchan

Cersei Lannister is an incredibly ambitious and cunning woman, so it would make sense that her partner Pokémon should be a Fighting-Type Pokémon. Hitmonchan specializes in punching, even having hands that look like boxing gloves.

It punches too fast to be seen by the naked eye, which would suit Cersei well in overpowering those who would try to stop her from reaching her goals. Hitmonchan is also unwilling to give up in a fight, sharing Cersei’s proud and determined nature.

7 Jaime Lannister And Hitmonlee

Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are two of the final forms of Tyrogue, which makes them siblings of a sort. So it makes sense that Jaime and Cersei would both have this type of Pokémon.

Where Hitmonchan specializes in punching, Hitmonlee specializes in kicking, but it is also very adept at running because of the long strides it takes. This is a great partner for Jaime, who is less interested in power than his sister and would likely be more interested in ending difficult situations.

6 Khal Drogo And Rapidash

Khal Drogo is of the Dothraki, who are people who spend a lot of time on horses. They move around a lot and therefore need steeds that can help them get there. Rapidash, therefore, would be a great partner Pokémon for Khal Drogo, since it is a powerful and fast Fire Horse Pokémon.

Rapidash are very quick and agile, which would make it great both for battle and for traveling. It’s also very brave and proud, not unlike Khal Drogo himself.

5 Sansa Stark And Articuno

Articuno is an Ice-Type Pokémon, which means that its powers come from the cold, and it’s stronger during snowy weather. This is perfect for a character like Sansa Stark, who comes from a place known for its cold weather.

Articuno is also a pretty powerful Pokémon, which would allow it to support Sansa as she stakes her claim for independence in the North.

4 Daenerys Targaryen And Charizard

Daenerys is, of course, the Mother of Dragons, so it makes sense that her Pokémon partner would also be a dragon. Charizard is likely the most dragon-like of Pokémon, in spite of the fact that it is a Flying-Type and not a Dragon-Type. It is also a Fire-Type, giving it a real sense of being an actual dragon.

Daenerys would definitely be able to train Charizard in such a way to assist her with her political goals.

3 Jon Snow And Lycanroc

Jon Snow is well-known for having relationships with wolves, and Lycanroc is a very wolf-like Pokémon. The word “lycan” even comes from “lycanthrope,” which is another word for a werewolf or wolf-like.

Lycanroc is also a Rock-Type Pokémon, which makes it a really appropriate Pokémon partner for Jon Snow, who has spent much of his life living and working at the Wall.

2 Arya Stark And Abomasnow

Arya Stark hails from Winterfell, and everyone remembers the eerie tagline of the first season: “Winter is coming.” Arya’s home in a cold part of the world, where she is used to being in the snow, makes her a great fit to partner with Abomasnow, an Ice-Type Pokémon that thrives in the winter.

It’s also a pretty powerful Pokémon, which suits Arya, who is often primed and ready for battle.

1 Tyrion Lannister And Gallade

Tyrion Lannister often makes his name by having knowledge of things that other people don’t and using that knowledge in order to give himself a leg up to position himself better in the world. Gallade, as a fairly powerful Psychic-Type Pokémon, would be a great partner for Tyrion.

Its abilities allow it to create swords out of its arms with which to do battle, which would help Tyrion in trickier spots. But it is also a master of courtesy, which would serve Tyrion in his quest for knowledge.
