Spider-Man: No Way Home could very well be the longest Spider-Man film to date. Director Jon Watts and Tom Holland reunite for the third time in the MCU after Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. This time, they’re set to close out the ongoing trilogy with potentially the most ambitious standalone film for the wall-crawler.

Marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home started late with its first trailer not dropping until late August 2021. Since then, however, no other promotional material has been released. In fact, there hasn’t even been an official poster. Despite this, the premise of the threequel is quite clear. Its narrative picks up after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, on the heels of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) outing Spider-Man’s real identity. Without Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr,) Peter’s life is turned upside down. He reaches out to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help, but instead of making things better, it only gets worse as they accidentally expose Earth to the multiversal threats.

According to a brand new listing from the Brazillian ticketing site, Ingresso (via CBR), Spider-Man: No Way Home will run for two hours and 39 minutes long. If this turns out to be true, then it would be the longest Spider-Man film to date. For context, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 clocked in at two hours and 36 minutes, while Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man was two hours and 33 minutes long. In terms of Watts’ movies, Spider-Man: Far From Home played for around two hours and 20 minutes. No other additional context was revealed in the aforementioned website, but this posting could be an indication that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment are gearing up to ramp up marketing for the film.

Considering the complicated story of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it makes sense that it would be the longest solo film for the Marvel hero thus far. Aside from ensuring that it offers some payoff from the cliffhanger ending in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it also needs to tackle the multiverse which is a very complicated concept at this point. Given Alfred Molina’s return as Doc Ock, coupled with the rumored appearances of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, some variation of the Sinister Six could factor in the film’s plot as well. The threequel has been compared to Avengers: Endgame, which was the culmination of the Infinity Saga. Thus far, it’s the longest MCU film, and despite that, it was crafted strategically so it didn’t feel like it was dragging. So despite the risks of a longer film, it could still work.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been the subject of rampant rumors for months now. That includes persistent speculation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will reprise their old Marvel roles. That’s on top of the film’s implications to the MCU’s budding multiverse. But Kevin Feige warned people to manage their expectations as it could ultimately lead to disappointments. In any case, with less than two months to go before its release, fans won’t have to wait that long to find out.
