9-1-1: Lone Star is Fox’s big midseason release and it features a number of talented actors. The spinoff to 9-1-1 is created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, the three minds behind the original series. The procedural drama is headlined by two acting vets, Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler.
9-1-1 trades in the City of Angels for the Lone Star state as it follows a New York firefighter named Owen who takes a job in Austin. The local Ladder is in desperate need of a leader after a tragic event. Owen just so happens to need a change of pace in his career and personal life. He initially clashes with lead paramedic Michelle but that will soon change as he adapts to his new environment.
9-1-1 is currently in the middle of its third season and considering the series remains one of Fox’s biggest hits, it’s no question why they greenlit 9-1-1: Lone Star. The sister series will look to match the success by bringing in a new cast led by two popular figures. It also seems likely that Lone Star will crossover with the original series in the near future. Rob Lowe As Owen Strand
Rob Lowe stars as Owen Strand, a New York City firefighter who relocates to Texas with his son to lead an Austin firehouse. The fire company suffered from a tragic fire and they are low on recruits. Owen is dealing with struggles of his own with his recent cancer diagnosis stemming from his time as a 9/11 first responder. Owen will look to fix the Ladder’s inclusivity problem as he tries to fit in with his new surroundings. Lowe was an original member of the Brat Pack before going on to appear in critically-acclaimed series like The West Wing, Brothers & Sisters, and Parks and Recreation.
Liv Tyler As Michelle Blake
Liv Tyler serves as Lone Star’s female lead opposite Lowe. The actress portrays Michelle Blake, a paramedic who leads the EMS teams and has authority on all medical calls. She’s often viewed as a heroine but her focus is distracted by her obsession with her sister’s disappearance. Tyler, the daughter of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, is best known for playing Arwen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In addition, she’s recognized for her work in films such as Armageddon, The Strangers, Ad Astra, as well as the TV show, The Leftovers.
9-1-1: Lone Star Supporting Cast
Ronen Rubinstein as T. K. Strand: Owen’s gay son and a fellow firefighter who is battling his opiate addiction. Rubinstein is best known for his role in Dead of Summer and an appearance in Orange Is the New Black.
Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder: The only surviving member of the Ladder that survived the tragic fire who understandably struggles with PTSD. Parrack is heavily recognized for his role as Hoyt in True Blood and portraying Frost in Suicide Squad.
Sierra McClain as Grace Ryder: Lone Star’s 911 operator and the wife of Judd who encourages Owen to find a new role for Judd in the firehouse. McClain rose to fame with her role in Empire which was followed up with her work in Mindhunter season 2.
Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani: One of Owen’s new firefighter/paramedic recruits who is described as a Muslin thrill-seeker who helms from Miami. Karam previously worked on Homeland, The Brave, and Casualty.
Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland: Another firefighter recruit who is a transgender firefighter from Chicago. Smith is best known for his work on Copernicus and Starr, Blue Bloods, Queen Sugar, and The L Word: Generation Q.
Julian Works as Mateo Chavez: The Austin native who failed the entrance exam rounds out the new firefighter recruits. The actor has previously appeared in American Crime, The Affair, Titans, and the film, Beautiful Boy.
Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes: The patrol officer who often encounters Owen and Michelle as well as their respective teams. Silva has worked on Madam Secretary but 9-1-1: Lone Star will serve as the actor’s breakout role.
