Destiny 2 developer Bungie is celebrating its 30th anniversary with plenty of new content for Destiny 2. The 30th Anniversary Pack is a welcomed mid-season content drop and quality-of-life update before the upcoming Witch Queen DLC. The pack is a love letter to Bungie’s fans, both past and present, and even introduced classic Halo-style weapons into Destiny 2 in the form of the Forerunner exotic sidearm and the BXR-55 Battler. These two weapons resemble Halo’s original Magnum and Battle Rifle. While classic Halo weapons can be unlocked during the new, six-player “Dares of Eternity” activity, Bungie hasn’t forgotten about iconic weapons from the original Destiny. These can be earned in Destiny 2’s new dungeon, Grasp of Avarice.

The Grasp of Avarice dungeon is based on Destiny’s original loot cave in the Cosmodrome and offers some of the original game’s best weapons. The Gjallarhorn, Matador 64, Eyasluna, and 1000-Yard Stare can all drop from any encounter of the dungeon. There has been a recent bug that only allows loot drops in the dungeon once a week per charter, but Bungie has already stated that the bug should be fixed soon. This should allow the dungeon to be farmable an unlimited amount of times a week, making getting a god-rolled weapon from encounters much easier. These weapons were basically the best-in-class weapons in Destiny PvP, and their reputation mostly holds up in Destiny 2, aside from Eyasluna, which is being outgunned by the new Forerunner exotic sidearm.

The 1000-Yard Stare is a legendary adaptive-frame sniper rifle that was widely regarded as the best PvP sniper in Destiny. While PvP players may not like that the best sniper for multiplayer only drops from a PvE dungeon, the Grasp of Avarice dungeon is much different than other dungeons in Destiny 2, and more focused on fun than difficult mechanics. The 1000-Yard Stare can drop from any encounter in the dungeon and has a 44 zoom, which is generally considered the best scope for sniping in Destiny. The sniper can also drop with the best possible perks for a sniper in the game, which may make players finally switch from their favorite snipers.

God Roll for the 1000-Yard Stare in Destiny 2

The 100-Yard Stare sniper in Destiny 2 is extremely lacking in PvE, even after Destiny 2’s biggest update, so it’s best to dismantle any roll of the weapon that doesn’t have good PvP perks. However, it’s always good to keep a good PvE roll of any weapon, including the 100-Yard Stare, in the Vault in case one of the perks or the weapon gets buffed later.

Here are the PvP god rolls for the 1000-Yard Stare:

  • Barrel: Smallbore
  • Rounds: Acqurized Rounds
  • Perk 1: Quickdraw or Perpetual Motion
  • Perk 2: Snapshot
  • Handling Masterwork

Below are the best rolls for PvE/The Vault:

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Mag: Tac Mag
  • Perk 1: Triple Tap
  • Perk 2: Dragonfly
  • Handling Masterwork

Of all the new weapons in Destiny 2’s 30th Anniversary pack, the 1000-Yard Stare should be at the top of every PvP sniper’s list.

PvP god rolls for snipers in Destiny 2 often look exactly like the one for the 1000-Yard Stare but with the addition of the new perk Perpetual Motion. This perk grants bonus stability, handling, and reload speed while the wielder is in motion. This is an excellent perk, as most good PvP players are constantly in motion, and it has no downsides. It would be no surprise if the perk received some sort of nerfing in the near future, but for now, players should also look to get it on the 1000-Yard Stare.
