First Look at Brenton Thwaites As Robin in DC’s Titans

The first look at Brenton Thwaites as Robin in Titans, DC’s live-action Teen Titans series for their streaming service, arrives. The superhero content landscape has evolved in recent years, with TV continuing to become a larger part of the genre. The CW has found success with several DC-related properties, while Hulu, ABC, and Netflix have taken on Marvel properties. FOX is home to Gotham, but DC doesn’t yet have a presence in streaming.

They are changing that dramatically with the launch of a DC digital service, and will do so with the return of Young Justice, as well as the debut of a new series, Titans. The series will be a live-action take on the younger super team, and it is starring some extremely popular DC characters. The leader of the bunch will be Dick Grayson – played by Brenton Thwaites – and his superhero costume has finally been revealed.

DC Entertainment (via CBR) released the first official image of Brenton Thwaites in costume as Dick Grayson in his Robin attire. The suit is extremely comic-accurate and finally gives fans a chance to see what Thwaites looks like in the role. It’s also confirmation that Dick will (at least to start out) don the Robin mantle, and not already be Nightwing.

This image should relieve any previous doubts that Thwaites wouldn’t at least look the part, and he has the ability to pull off the leading role, too. He’s previously had starring roles in Maleficent, Gods of Egypt, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, but this will be his biggest role yet. That is not only thanks to the requirements that come as the leader of the Titans, but also because of the expectations that come with playing a beloved character. The only question that now remains for Thwaites is how well he can use Robin’s staff.

With the first look at Robin now out, it may not be too long before DC officially reveals what the rest of the cast looks like in their roles. Such a rollout could happen with single character portraits or as a team photo, but either way, it hopefully won’t be long before Teagan Croft’s Raven, Anna Diop’s Starfire, Ryan Potter’s Beast Boy, or even Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly as Hawk and Dove are revealed as well. Until that time comes, the Robin costume reveal is just another way of showing the progress Titans is making.
