For the last few weeks, I’ve been the envy of everyone in my office since being given the opportunity to try the Flexispot E7 Standing Desk Pro. This might be slightly more impressive if everyone in my office was comprised of more than just my husband and three kids, but there’s still a good reason for them to be jealous. Not only is the E7 incredibly well built but it also boasts several customisation options, including different colour options for both the frame and desktop. It’s converted me not only to the concept of a standing desk but also to the benefits of having a well-built workspace.

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of having a standing desk, and the Flexispot E7 has everything I wanted. It comprises T-shaped solid legs, a thick high-quality rounded corner desktop, and most importantly, motorized controls to adjust the height. The controls even include up to four programmable memory presets and a child lock. This last part is absolutely vital for anyone who has children that think making the desk go up and down is really good fun. As a bonus, it also stops both pets and clumsy humans from accidentally pressing the buttons and sending it crashing down. Not that I tried to plug a cable into my PC and while leaning over accidentally made my desk go up. No, that must have been someone else.

The desk itself came in three packages, one for the desktop and two for the legs and motor. I had expected only two parcels but this was actually a good thing, as the legs and motor are well built and therefore very heavy. Splitting them up allowed me to move all three parts without needing any help.

When it came to assembly, things were also much easier than expected. The directions are clear, with my only confusion being a minor misunderstanding of how the tray to cover the cables was secured. Even that ended up being relatively simple. While the desk is heavy, and it would likely be much faster and easier to build with two people, I managed to do it alone, gaining a smug sense of satisfaction and no injuries.

Once assembled, the first thing you’ll notice is how clean everything looks. The majority of the cables sit snugly under the desk in a tray, meaning just one string of cables comes down to go into plug sockets and the back of my PC that sits on the floor. Fastening these together means I don’t need to worry about catching any loose wires when I move.

I’ve been using the desk for almost a month now, and I don’t think I could go back to my old setup. As someone who spends at least eight hours a day, five days a week at a desk working, plus extra time gaming, being able to frequently stand up is a game-changer. I always worried about how easy it would be to move a standing desk but the E7 makes it simple. All I need to do is touch the button and it automatically adjusts to one of my four chosen heights. It moves smoothly and easily, and yet nothing on my desk moves at all. No monitor shake, no ripples in my drink making it look like dinosaurs are approaching, nothing.

As you can see from the image above of my set up (don’t judge me), the desktop also offers plenty of space, despite being the smallest sized option at 120cm x 60cm. I have a regular and ulta-wide monitor as well as a gaming keyboard, mouse, and some streaming equipment. Despite this, there’s still room for other random items.

Having a standing desk is incredibly freeing and this particular desk also takes the stress out of it. I mentioned earlier the possibility that someone could accidentally click the button and make the desk move unexpectedly. Well, if that does happen you don’t need to worry about hurting yourself, anyone close by, or damaging anything you own. Not only does the desk move slowly but it also stops immediately if it comes into close contact with anything at all. A PC under the desk is in no danger of being damaged, nor is the arm of a child who is trying to ‘catch’ the desk as it raises up.

All things considered, the Flexispot E7 is a great choice for a standing desk. It’s a high-quality and well-built solution, with enough desktop options to suit any office and any task. The motorised controls are easy to use and make adjusting the desk’s height simple. With the extra safety features of collision detection and the child-lock, they are also worry-free. Its versatility, style, and quality make it a great investment for anyone in the market for a quality standing desk.
