Fans of Tim Allen’s hit show Last Man Standing who were shocked when ABC cancelled the series after six seasons may have a reason to be hopeful for its return. Thanks to the success of other network reboots like Roseanne, FOX is now in talks to bring Allen’s Last Man Standing back to network television. The show followed Allen’s character, Mike Baxter, a business executive at a sporting goods store. Baxter is married to wife Vanessa, played by Nancy Travis and together they are raising three daughters.

This wouldn’t be the first time the show had been mentioned in reboot talks. Both fans and analysts were shocked when ABC cancelled the show, given that it was still performing quite well in the ratings. So much so that CMT actually considered rebooting the show on their own network. There were hesitations attached since CMT doesn’t quite have the budget for a show like Last Man Standing that ABC would have had.

Now however it looks as though the show’s producer, 20th Century Fox TV, is currently negotiating to reboot the show on its sister network, FOX, according to Deadline. Allen is reportedly already on board for the reboot, which is unsurprising given his shock at seeing the show’s cancellation in the first place. However both Travis and Hector Elizondo, who played Baxter’s partners are both already attached to other projects at the moment and insiders are stating that this is anything but a done deal. Still, Deadline has stated that talks are ongoing to see if not only the cast but the creative team behind the show are on board for a reboot. Allen took to Twitter to encourage fans who want to see Last Man Standing back on television to let the network know:

It’s only been a few months since there were talks of another Tim Allen reboot that circulated online. In March the actor said he would be ‘very interested’ in bringing his Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor character back to television in a reboot of Home Improvement. Despite the public interest in that, it’s looking like the Last Man Standing reboot may seem more of a possibility at this point. Many conservatives were upset at the cancellation of the show and have been calling for its return. A petition was even launched by a group of conservatives after its cancellation to bring the show back.

With the resounding success of the return of Roseanne, whose main character is a Trump supporter, many feel that the return of another network comedy featuring a conservative as a lead character is something that it not only wanted, but needed. Both Allen and his character Mike Baxter are political conservatives and fans are excited at the idea of seeing someone who shares their ideologies back on the small screen. While there has only been talks of a reboot at this point, it certainly seems as though fans are excited at the prospect of the show returning. We’ll make sure to keep you updated on all Last Man Standing reboot news.
