As the fans of the HBO’s hit fantasy show Game of Thrones saw over and over again, it didn’t really matter how noble the characters were or how good. Even the most positive ones of all the heroes suffered a lot throughout the show’s long run, usually both physically and mentally.

And sometimes, more often than not, they ended up dead. That also happened to Jorah Mormont, who was connected to the Queen of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. Even though Jorah met his end in the battle against the Night Walkers, you can still remember him by checking out these hilarious memes!

10 Turn To Stone

Jorah faces many threats and challenges during the show. But one of the biggest ones definitely was the dangerous disease called the greyscale (also known as the Prince Garin’s Curse). This disease is most usually fatal and rarely anyone ever survives it. The most obvious example of one character who did manage to survive the disease was princess Shireen, daughter of Stannis Baratheon.

Jorah caught greyscale when he was traveling with Tyrion. Fortunately for him, even though this meme shows the opposite, the disease had much slower progress and allowed Jorah to live long enough to get better again thanks to Samwell Tarly.

9 Jon The Beautiful

Daenerys and Jorah have a long and complicated history. Jorah was Daenerys’s best friend and confidante for a long time until he betrayed her. They later found their way to each other but even though Jorah loved the young dragon queen, she never saw him as more than a friend.

This meme shows that sometimes first encounters can be super awkward, especially if you think that somebody is praising your beauty and only later realize that he’s actually talking to the person standing next to you. While Jon Snow is undoubtedly a good-looking man, Ser Jorah doesn’t seem to be the type of person who would appreciate it.

8 Coming Back Too Late

Ser Jorah Mormont seemingly can’t catch a break and the luck definitely isn’t on his side… at least when it comes to Daenerys and her feelings towards him that remain on an entirely friendly level, even though Jorah wishes for more. Just when it seems that things might be getting better for him, Jorah finds out that destiny once again played a cruel trick on him.

When Jorah comes back after Samwell had cured him, he finds out that Daenerys already has a company of another man, much younger than Jorah, which even more diminishes the chance that she might want to be with Jorah one day.

7 Neverending Quest

Jorah has known Daenerys for a long time and has watched her grow from a scared young bride to a decisive ruler. He has also watched her with other men and had to bear the sight for years. First, Daenerys got married to Khal Drogo and even though she didn’t know him when they got married, she later grew to love him. When Drogo died, Daenerys eventually moved on… but not to Jorah, to Daario, whom she took as her lover.

Once this affair ended, Jorah could have been next, but then Jon Snow came into Daenerys’s love and Jorah’s neverending quest for Daenerys’s love once again went wrong.

6 House Friendzone

As all the fans of Game of Thrones no doubt know, there are various houses in Westeros. The three most famous ones are the House of Stark, The House of Lannister and The House of Targaryen. However, there is one house in the show that people don’t mention as often as it deserves.

Ser Jorah originally comes from The House of Mormont, as his surname suggests, but as the story progressed, he became a member of a whole new house in the eyes of many viewers – The House of Friendzone. Since he loved Daenerys but she never returned his feelings, it’s a truly accurate description.

5 A Real Hero

Let’s step away from Daenerys, Jon, Ser Jorah and the whole unfortunate love triangle situation for a moment and give Jorah the recognition he deserves. Even though he doesn’t ride dragons, can do magic or trained with nameless assassins, Jorah is a capable fighter who can hold his ground. Plus, he’s fiercely loyal, as he proved time and time again.

He’s also brave since he often goes into dangerous situations which might lead to his death if he’s not lucky and careful enough. And finally, when the time came for Winterfell to stand against the Night Walkers and the Night King, even though it was Arya who killed the Night King in the end, Jorah still did a great job.

4 From Bad To Worse

And the friendzone is back! Despite all of his love troubles, one thing is for certain – Ser Jorah Mormont handled the whole situation with Daenerys a lot better than plenty of men would. And you don’t even have to go to different fandom to realize this.

A shining example of the bad kind of approach is another Game of Thrones popular character, the ever-scheming, and cunning Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger. Littlefinger was in love first with Catelyn and then he crushed on her daughter Sansa. When it became clear that Sansa wasn’t interested, he convinced her to marry Ramsay Bolton, who was a sadist.

3 Brotherly Love

Incest is a very controversial theme but if you can say one thing about Game of Thrones, it’s the fact that the show never shied away from controversial topics. The most glaring example of incest in Westeros is, of course, Cersei and Jaime, who have been lovers for years and even had three children together.

However, the show also hinted repeatedly that The House of Targaryen is no stranger to incest as well. In this meme, Jorah seems to think that if he was Daenerys’s brother, he might stand a greater chance with her. But it’s highly debatable whether it would work.

2 You Know Nothing

Falling into the friend zone is something no-one wishes for but it still happens. Both in Game of Thrones and in real life as well. As far as friend zones go, Jorah doesn’t have that much to complain about. Sure, Daenerys never loved him back but at least she was there for him and he didn’t have to watch her die.

The same isn’t true for characters from other fictional worlds, such as the Harry Potter potion genius Severus Snape. Severus is the most tragic example of a friend zone guy since he lost the girl he loved to his worst enemy and then had to work for the man who killed her. Ouch.

1 He Doesn’t Get It

To be fair, Ser Jorah Mormont isn’t the only character in Game of Thrones who doesn’t get what he wants when it comes to love. Jon wants to be with Ygritte but watches her die. Brienne loves Jaime Lannister but only gets one night with him. Gendry asks Arya to stay with him but she chooses to go off to explore the world instead.

And you could go on like this. Not gaining the affection of the person you love is bad enough but when other characters make fun of you for it, it’s even worse. Still, this meme is hilarious and works with a clever pun so it has to be on this list.
