With one of the biggest ensembles in television history, part of the fun of Game of Thrones was seeing which characters would cross paths. As the series neared its end and the world of the show got smaller, most of the remaining cast came together making for some memorable pairings of characters.

However, with so many locations and so many deaths, there are a number of key characters who never interacted with each other. While they might have appeared in the same scene, the chance to have these characters share words together was sadly missed.

10 Jon Snow And Khal Drogo

Though the relationship between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen took a lot of attention in the final season of Game of Thrones, Jon was not her first love. Despite the dark beginning to her marriage to Khal Drogo, the two unexpectedly fell in love and were a happy couple.

Of course, despite being a feared warrior, Drogo died early in the show without ever having a chance to meet any of the characters in Westeros. It would have been especially fun to see a love triangle form between Jon, Daenerys, and Drogo as well as see how the King in the North and the Dothraki lord would match up.

9 Bran Stark And Melisandre

There were a lot of characters with extraordinary powers in Game of Thrones, but Bran Stark and Melisandre shared the same gift of looking through time. Melisandre bragged about being able to see the future in her flames while Bran could see everything in the past as the Three-Eyed Raven.

Given that Melisandre’s confidence in her prophecy powers got shaken after she failed Stannis, it would have been interesting to see her reaction to Bran’s abilities, especially since they didn’t come from the Lord of Light. But despite briefly being at Winterfell at the same time, their paths never crossed.

8 Sam And Varys

Though most of the power in Westeros was held by those with the strength to take it themselves, there were certain characters who achieved a lot through intelligence. Sam and Varys were two such characters who were underestimated by those around them but remained informed.

The closest these two characters came to meeting was when all of the heroes gathered at Winterfell to face the Night King and his army. Ironically, this was also one of the instances in which intellect was least helpful and they never got the chance to share an intelligent conversation with each other.

7 Jaime Lannister And Littlefinger

Though it was hard to ever decipher whose side Littlefinger was truly on, he had been a loyal servant of the Lannister family in a number of instances. Oddly enough, he never met one of the most important Lannisters, Jaime.

By the time Jaime made his way back to King’s Landing, Littlefinger had left the city. They both traveled around Westeros throughout the series, never running into each other. It is a shame because it is unlikely Jaime would have much patience for Littlefinger’s slippery nature and would be more than willing to put him in his place.

6 The Hound And Theon Greyjoy

Game of Thrones is filled with great redemptions and two of the best belonged to The Hound and Theon Greyjoy. And they actually share a lot in common. Both men came from very dysfunctional homes, they shared a bond with Sansa Stark, and they both died protecting one of the young Starks.

They find themselves both in Winterfell for the battle against the Night King but never meet. It would have been interesting to see them share a small moment of recognizing how they have changed as men for the better.

5 Jorah Mormont And Davos Seaworth

While not central characters, both Jorah Mormont and Davos Seaworth were easy men to like. They were grounded and practical men who served as the right hand to powerful people without seeking power for themselves.

As the advisors to Daenerys and Jon respectively, there seems like there would have been plenty of time for these two to meet in the later seasons. They could have shared a bond over their similar roles or maybe had an antagonistic relationship of finding themselves on opposing sides.

4 Sansa Stark And Robb Stark

When the series began, the Stark family seemed to be living a cold yet happy life in the North before many of them went their separate ways. But while they appeared in the same scenes together, brother Robb and sister Sansa were never seen speaking to each other.

It is interesting how that Stark bond was able to be maintained despite these two never actually acknowledging each other. However, when Sansa reacted to hearing the news of Robb’s death, it was no less heartbreaking.

3 Daenerys Targaryen And Tywin Lannister

Despite being one of the main characters on the show, Daenerys Targaryen was separated from most of the main cast with her own separate storyline. And though she was planning her invasion in Westeros, she never met the kingdom’s most powerful man, Tywin Lannister.

Daenerys knew of Tywin as the man who betrayed her father and sought revenge against him. However, Tywin barely acknowledged Daenerys’s existence at all, even dismissing the reports of her dragons being born. But by the time she arrived with those dragons in Westeros, Tywin was already dead.

2 Jon Snow And Joffrey Baratheon

As perhaps the most beloved hero and most hate villain on Game of Thrones, it would have been a lot of fun to see Jon Snow and Joffrey Baratheon get together. They had the brief opportunity to meet in the first episode when the Lannisters visit King’s Landing but never encountered each other.

For much of their time, Jon and Joffrey couldn’t have been further away with Jon at the Wall or beyond it and Joffrey in King’s Landing. Surely, a lot of fans were hoping Jon would avenge Ned Stark by killing Joffrey, but Joffrey was poisoned before he had the chance.

1 Ned Stark And Tyrion Lannister

Despite the show being a massive ensemble, Ned Stark and Tyrion Lannister were certainly the main characters in season 1 of Game of Thrones. They each represented the two main houses in Westeros that the story revolved around and they are both easy characters to root for.

Sadly, fans never got to see either of these men share the screen. It would have been nice to see at least one interaction before Ned Stark was killed. It is likely that Tyrion would have at least admired Ned while Ned would likely have been unamused by Tyrion.
