Daniel Craig’s fifth and final appearance as James Bond in No Time to Die brought an ending to the overall storyline of his iteration of the character. SPECTRE was the overarching villain to his story, with Lyutsifer Safin targeting the organization in the movie.

The main villain’s characterization was shrouded in mystery and many aspects were still unanswered after the movie ended. There were also big-time revelations related to Bond’s cohorts at MI6, which weren’t fully resolved either. All things considered, there are several things that No Time to Die has left up to speculation that fans would rather have answered.

7 Why Did Safin Have Diabolical Plans After Killing Blofeld?

The death of Blofeld was one of the biggest surprises in No Time to Die, and it was Safin’s main goal. He sought revenge from Blofeld for killing his family and achieved his mission halfway through. However, Safin then instantly turned his attention toward using the nanobots to subjugate the world.

It’s unclear why Safin would shift his focus to such dastardly measures considering his issue with SPECTRE had been due to their practice of the same motives. Safin had also plotted against Blofeld for decades, so it’s strange why he would move on so quickly after gaining revenge.

6 What Happened To Safin’s Injuries & How Did They Get Fixed?

The opening showed a younger Safin attacking Madaleine when she was a child and killing her mother. During this assault, Safin was visibly suffering from injuries, as he was shown limping toward Madaleine. It was implied that these were longstanding issues since Blofeld had eliminated Safin’s family when the latter was much younger.

None of Safin’s injuries showed up during the present-day events, however, other than his facial scars. Safin’s limp had disappeared altogether, which is a mystery as there was nothing to suggest he had the technology to overcome the issue.

5 How Was Blofeld Controlling SPECTRE Through The Bionic Eye?

The first half of the movie concerned the characters’ attempts to track Blofeld and one of the shocking moments of No Time to Die was when Blofeld made his presence known at the SPECTRE meeting. It turned out he was using a bionic eye to be there while physically in captivity.

There wasn’t any explanation given as to how Blofeld was able to manage such an arrangement considering he was locked away and under supervision. The nature of the bionic eye is ambiguous as well, with Blofeld somehow managing to know everything and even speak through it.

4 What Were M’s Original Intentions With Project Heracles?

Obruchev was the scientist who engineered the nanobot technology of Project Heracles but he was working for MI6 at the time. James Bond had plenty of questions for M when he learned that the latter had commissioned the project and Safin had simply hijacked it.

M claimed the nanobots were never meant to be used as a bioweapon and they were supposed to be used for “good.” It was left unexplained what exactly that entailed since the nanobots seemed to be bad right from the start. With their destruction in the film’s climax, the real intention behind Project Heracles remains a mystery.

3 What Were The Implications Of The Missile Detonations On The Island?

M was firmly against the idea of destroying Safrin’s island with the explosives because it was situated between Japan and Russia. He claimed that such an act would be perceived as a threat by the countries’ governments and that the USA would also retaliate.

By the end, though, M had given his approval and the island was destroyed with the same missiles. The fallout from such a move wasn’t shown in the movie, although M seemed not to worry about it. Considering such large-scale destruction happened beyond England’s borders, there really should have been some consequences that many viewers will still be wondering about.

2 Did Nomi Get Her OO7 Status Back?

Nomi proved to be one of the best No Time to Die characters who was humble enough to give up her status as 007 back to Bond. She didn’t have the foresight to assume he would die in the final battle and the reinstatement of Bond as 007 looked official.

With Bond dead, it’s unclear if Nomi did get the designation back or if the tag was retired altogether. It would be interesting if Nomi reassigned the number as she could return for future movies. Either way, the status of the 007 role was left unanswered by the movie.

1 Are There No Other Members Of SPECTRE Left?

The bioweapon was used by Safin to eliminate all SPECTRE members to wipe out the organization. Although the meeting only showed the mid to high-level members of SPECTRE dying, it was stated that those who shared the DNA would also perish around the world.

That doesn’t account for low-level SPECTRE members, though, as Safin had welcomed Primo to his ranks after the nanobots had been used against SPECTRE. The movie didn’t give an answer to this aspect and it’s possible that there are indeed low-level SPECTRE agents still out there.
