Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

The world of Pokémon has captured the imagination of children and even adults around the world, with Pikachu being a global pop culture icon. It all started in the 1990s with Generation I, featuring the first 151 Pokémon, from Bulbasaur to Mew, and the lore took place in the world’s Kanto region. That’s where Ash Ketchum began his legendary adventure to catch ’em all.

Many trainers in the Pokémon have distinct tastes when it comes to their team, and if anime characters from other franchises ended up in the Kanto region, they would also form specialized teams to reflect their personalities and original combat abilities, if any. This time, Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto has arrived in Kanto, and he must build the perfect Uchiha team to become Kanto’s top trainer. Which Pokémon will he want, and which are best left in the wild?

10 SASUKE WOULD WANT: Flareon Is Quick & Uses Fire

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Sasuke would want to catch several Pokémon whose techniques align with his original jutsu, such as the fireball jutsu, and Flareon is a fine start. This Kanto Pokémon is the fire-based evolution of the adaptable Eevee, and Sasuke would train it well.

Flareon’s fire-based techniques match the fireball jutsu and the Uchiha Clan’s general tendency toward fire, and this Pokémon is quick and agile like Sasuke himself. Pound for pound, Sasuke’s Flareon would be one of the strongest Kanto Pokémon around.

9 SASUKE WOULDN’T WANT: Lickitung Is Too Merciful

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Lickitung is a large pink Pokémon named after its monster tongue, which is also its primary weapon. In a Pokémon battle, Lickitung will run its tongue against the opposing Pokémon and paralyze it with its saliva. Then, Lickitung can finish the job with melee attacks, if necessary.

That’s not bad, but Lickitung’s silly appearance and pacifistic tongue attacks wouldn’t appeal to Sasuke’s tastes in jutsu or Pokémon, so he would pass up Lickitung and leave it in the wild. This thing isn’t his style.

8 SASUKE WOULD WANT: Jolteon Is A Living Chidori

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Jolteon is a famed lightning Pokémon that can hit hard despite its size, and like Flareon, it can be trained to become an incredible Pokémon, pound for pound. Jolteon is also quick and agile in battle, which is a trait Sasuke desires. The fastest shinobi are the ones who can deal the first and possibly last blow.

Jolteon’s physical abilities are up to snuff, and its savage lightning-based techniques are just like Sasuke’s Chidori technique, quick and deadly. With Sasuke giving the orders, any Jolteon will have the opponent zapped into submission at lightning speed.

7 SASUKE WOULDN’T WANT: Snorlax Is Far Too Defensive

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

The massive Pokémon Snorlax may appeal to trainers who want an easygoing friend to hang out with or a defensive Pokémon that can absorb many blows until it’s time for a counterattack. A wild Snorlax can eat hundreds of pounds of food per day, which might remind Sasuke of Naruto going on a ramen-eating marathon.

Snorlax has its merits, but Sasuke can’t appreciate any of them. In a fight, Sasuke is highly proactive and agile, always taking the fight to his enemy. Snorlax is the awkward opposite of that, and it has no place in Sasuke’s Pokémon team.

6 SASUKE WOULD WANT: Fearow Reflects Sasuke’s Hawk Summoning

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Fearow is the evolution of Spearow, and it is a deadly and precise hunter that can terrorize the skies before diving down to catch its prey. No doubt Sasuke would be impressed by this bird Pokémon’s ferocity and hunting skills, and he’d want one for himself.

It also helps that Fearow would remind Sasuke of that hawk he can summon, and he knows the value of having a height advantage over his foes. With the right strategy, Sasuke’s Fearow could fly in circles around the opposition then gore them with its beak.

5 SASUKE WOULDN’T WANT: Dugtrio Isn’t Sasuke’s Style

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Some Pokémon are Rock or Ground-type, which is roughly similar to Earth Release jutsu in Sasuke’s own world, and Sasuke has learned to respect the power of Earth Release. But he has little interest in earth himself, and he’s not on the market for Ground-type Pokémon like Dugtrio.

Dugtrio is one of those Pokémon that forms when two or more basic Pokémon get together, and in this case, it’s made up of three Digletts. Dugtrio can really shake the ground under its opponent’s feet, but that’s simply not what Sasuke is looking for.

4 SASUKE WOULD WANT: Hitmonlee Can Perform The Lions Barrage

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Sasuke is known for deadly jutsu such as the Susanoo and the black flames of Amaterasu, but he can also perform taijutsu, and he wants at least one Pokémon to reflect that. One strong option is Hitmonlee, a humanoid known as the “kicking fiend.”

Hitmonlee has strong and extendable legs, and Sasuke could train his Hitmonlee to perform the Lions Barrage, a jutsu combo he learns by watching Rock Lee in action. A Hitmonlee using the Lions Barrage is something to be feared.

3 SASUKE WOULDN’T WANT: Lapras Is Gentle & Uses Water

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Not all Pokémon are aggressive fighters, and these docile, gentle Pokémon are not what Sasuke wants as a competitive Uchiha trainer. One such docile Pokémon is Lapras, a popular Water/Ice Pokémon that is better known for ferrying people around than actually fighting.

Sasuke isn’t too proud to ride a Lapras across the coastline to reach remote areas, but he would find a Lapras terribly boring in his team. Besides, this Pokémon’s elements are different than what he is used to. He’s not in the business of gently freezing things.

2 SASUKE WOULD WANT: Hypno Can Use Its Psychic Attacks Like Genjutsu

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

Sasuke is a big fan of genjutsu techniques, and he used genjutsu to fool Danzo during their battle of Sharingan vs Sharingan. So, Sasuke would want a potent psychic Pokémon for his team, and he’s found one in Hypno. This bizarre humanoid is a tricky one.

Hypno can use confusing psychic attacks to weaken and disorient the opponent, and a clever shinobi like Sasuke could find all kinds of uses for this Pokémon’s techniques. He doesn’t always need fire to win.

1 SASUKE WOULDN’T WANT: Jigglypuff Doesn’t Make The Cut

Naruto 5 Kanto Region Pokémon Sasuke Would Want On His Team (& 5 Hed Pass Up)

The cuddly pink Jiggypuff is famed for its ability to sing and put the opponent to sleep, and it often gets insulted when the enemy goes to sleep like that. Jigglypuff can follow up with moves such as Pound and Slap to finish the job.

Sakura and Hinata might like this Pokémon as a friend, but Sasuke would pass it up since its fighting style is different from what he is used to. That sleep effect is vaguely like genjutsu, but Sasuke already has Hypno to perform psychic techniques in battle.
