Fans of both Neon Genesis Evangelion and skateboarding alike are in for a treat this week as a brand new line of Evangelion themed skateboards are on the way!
Elos Skateboards has teamed up with Neon Genesis Evangelion to announce a stellar new line of boards. With each board themed around a different EVA unit, there is bound to be one for every fan, allowing them to rep their favorite mecha as they cruise the streets.
And these aren’t average skateboards. Elos boards are designed with one main thing in mind; quick, easy, portable transportation. Described as an “urban cruiser,” the boards’ unique design combines the ease of riding of a full longboard with the more compact nature of a traditional skateboard. It features the wider, softer wheels of a longboard that help to provide a smoother ride, while not having the length that would classify it as “long.” Not only are the wheels extra wide for stability, but so is the deck itself, giving extra space for footing and providing more balance overall. To up the convenience factor, the decks even include built in handles.
But the most exciting part is the three exclusive Evangelion designs below.
First up there’s the EVA-01. It sports a purple and green accent within the black grip tape, and on its bottom a slick green 01 in its center, with a purple striped pattern down its edge, all leading to a purple silhouette of EVA-01 itself.
The second board is much like the EVA-01 edition, though centered around EVA-02. The bottoms are similar in design with the obvious color and number swaps, but the top of this one is where it really stands out. Rather than traditional black grip tape, this board rocks a bright red grip tape that really makes the deck pop.
Lastly is the Rei deck, which is arguably the coolest and most unique of the bunch. Atop the deck sits killer custom grip tape featuring a light blue and white design split through the center with black streaks and the number 00 in all its mechanical glory. Instead of color and streaks on the bottom, this board features a bare wood design, with a carving of the unit’s head in its center.
There has been a load of other Neon Genesis merch lately. Fans can cruise on the boards while also rocking some new EVA unit wireless earbuds to match. And headphones aren’t the only new accessory to allow one to flaunt their love of the series in public; a new line of Evangelion clothing recently dropped from Radio Eva & FILA. And that’s just the start. How about a human-sized scale replica of an EVA unit? That’s right, someone can now bring home an EVA-01 that is almost seven feet tall. Though if one really wants to bring the action home, they can now EAT like a nerv pilot thanks to some Evangelion MREs that recently hit the market.
