Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Eterna City Team Galactic HQ Guide

This is part six of our official Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl complete guide and walkthrough, which picks up after earning the Forest Badge from Gardenia in Eterna City. Although you’re technically one step closer to the Pokemon League, you’re not ready to leave Eterna just yet – instead, you need to infiltrate the Eterna City Team Galactic HQ.

Once you’ve emerged from the Eterna City gym victorious and come to grips with the vast and not-so-varied recesses of the Grand Underground, you’ll quickly discover that it’s not quite time to leave the city yet. In the northwestern part of the area – where Cynthia gave you Cut earlier on – stands the official Eterna City headquarters of Team Galactic. Now that you’re able to convince Pokemon to chop down trees for you, you can just head straight through the front door. By “can,” I obviously mean “must” – this is a compulsory part of the story that needs to be completed if you’re to progress any further.

Before you head into the Team Galactic HQ, make sure to heal up your party – even if they’re in decent nick after the Gardenia fight, you’ll want to make sure they all have full PP, right? Once this is done, make your way into the building and prepare for at least four battles. If you want extra experience – which you always should – you can do a couple of others on top of that by actively talking to certain Team Galactic members who won’t instigate a fight themselves. Either way, Jupiter, the commander of this HQ, is located on the fourth floor.

In our opinion, Jupiter isn’t quite as tough as Mars from Valley Windworks, so this fight theoretically shouldn’t cause you too much trouble. The main issue here is her Skuntank, whose only weakness is to Ground-type moves. If you picked up a Rock Pokemon from Oreburgh Mine earlier on, power to you – Geodude learns Magnitude at level 15. If not, you’re going to want to make sure your ‘mons are at least level 20 for this fight, if not several levels higher. We’d also recommend having them hold Pecha Berries given that Jupiter’s Skuntank loves to spam Poison Gas on switch-ins.

Once you’ve taken care of business here, head back out to Eterna City. As it turns out, the person you just saved is the local bike salesman, who is more than happy to reward your good deeds with one of his latest two-wheelers free of charge. Now that you’ve got access to a bike, you’re finally able to leave Eterna City via Route 206.

Before you go though, make sure you talk to the scientist in the building linking the two areas – he’s Dawn’s dad and he’ll reward you with a Rare Candy if you’ve seen a certain amount of Pokemon. I’m not sure of the exact amount you need, but I’d seen 41 at the time and skipped quite a few battles, so if you’ve been training hard you’ll definitely have enough. I know, I’m a hypocrite. Sometimes battles take too long, okay?

Now that you’re on the road again, it’s high time we move on to part seven of our Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl walkthrough: Cycling Road and Hearthome City.
