Super Smash Bros Every Pokémon Fighter Ranked

One of the greatest additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters has been the Pokémon series. It includes a total of 8 fighters, each with unique skills and moves, and each with its own spot as a fighter.

From early game Pokémon, like Pikachu and Jigglypuff, to legendaries like Mewtwo and even to the Pokémon trainer, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate includes a wide variety of options regarding the Pokémon universe. Nevertheless, some of them manage to really stand out, even when compared to some of the strongest fighters from other series, while others are not so widely beloved.

8 Incineroar

Often considered one of the weakest fighters in the game, Incineroar doesn’t see much use from most players. Despite being a tier 3 evolution of a starter Pokémon and looking extremely strong, it ends up falling short due to its exceptionally slow speed.

On top of those, due to its large hitbox, it can be easily juggled by opponents in the air, or even edge guarded easily without allowing having a chance to get back on the map. Nevertheless, speed is its main setback, and if it had even mediocre speed, it would be considered a much better option.

7 Lucario

Despite its strong attacks and its very useful projectiles as well as its strength in the Pokémon games, Lucario isn’t considered a great fighter.

Primarily due to its slow movement speed and to its attacks lacking good range, and how easy its neutral special can be dodged, it becomes exceptionally hard to effectively utilize any of its combos. This exact inconsistency is why Lucario is punished by most other characters in a game where speed and range are vital for success.

6 Mewtwo

Even though Mewtwo is a legendary Pokémon and most fans had high expectations from it, it fails to live up to its name. Its main assets are its great aerial strength, as well as that most of its moves are easy to land due to larger hitboxes.

Although Mewtwo has great moves altogether, the issue is that they don’t combo with each other. Also, his main projectile, Shadow Ball, can be easily dodged, thus leaving it with little to no tools for winning tough fights, and its tail makes it even easier to get hit by most moves since it makes its hitbox larger.

5 Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff is considered a solid fighter all around, mostly due to its great moves and combos. It is considered one of the best fighters for edge guarding, and it offers multiple powerful tools for each fight, including what is considered the best jab lock kill confirm in the game.

Its main setback is against characters that can spam attacks or projectiles quickly since Jigglypuff is fairly slow and can’t dodge easily. Also, Jigglypuff is easy to kill and opponents can easily take advantage of that, so the player must be really careful regarding positioning.

4 Pichu

Super Smash Bros Every Pokémon Fighter Ranked

Pichu is considered one of the strongest characters overall in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, especially due to its recent buff. It offers great edge guarding and insanely high damage combos that could even kill an opponent at 70%. Its great speed allows Pichu to utilize its kit efficiently.

However, its main power is also its weakness. Although it is able to kill opponents at 70%, it can also die at 70% due to extremely weak defense. Because of that, Pichu is considered a glass-cannon character who will either deal very high damage early in the game or will die almost instantly. Because of that, it is considered a high-risk, high-reward character.

3 Greninja

Greninja’s strength comes mostly due to its speed and its hard-to-hit hitbox. With a great aerial game and solid combos, Greninja utilizes its speed and hitbox and is considered a solid threat in most matchups.

However, its drawback is that it does not include a lot of kill confirms and it is a lightweight fighter. What this means is that it can be easily exploited and even juggled off-stage without having a chance to fight back, thus making it hard to recover when the opponent gets even slightly ahead.

2 Pokémon Trainer

One of the best Pokémon fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the Pokémon Trainer who utilizes three Generation 1 iconic starter Pokémon: Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. Pokémon Trainer is considered one of the most versatile fighters in the game due to being three fighters instead of one.

With each of the three Pokémon having different strengths, there will always be at least one that is great for almost every matchup. With great edge guarding with air and down air moves, early kill potential, and solid neutral attacks, these three starter Pokémon manage to shine in the hands of a player who can utilize them efficiently.

1 Pikachu

Pikachu is considered by most as one of the best, if not the best, fighters in general in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is considered the best fighter for edge guarding even at low percentages, and its combos combined with its speed can dish out significant damage very quickly.

On top of that, it includes the strong projectile ‘Thunder Jolt’ which allows it to pressure opponents at range efficiently. Its only disadvantage is that it can die easily, but its great recovery definitely makes up for that.
