As expected, 2020’s Pokemon GO Fest is going to have to be a little different than what the community has seen in previous years. Usually, Pokemon GO Fest is a multi-day in-person event where trainers visit a big city and play the mobile AR with literally thousands of other players. This year, the summer event will have to take a different approach as most cities are not supporting events of that size quite yet, even if they are starting to decrease their precautionary measures.
Although it’s a bit sad that trainers won’t be able to gather together for a massive weekend-long play session this summer, the transition to a virtual Pokemon GO Fest does present some exciting opportunities. Many more trainers are going to be able to participate and the special bonuses available during the event will be open to everyone who drops the money needed to purchase a ticket to the annual event.
The upcoming event will take place on July 25 and 26 and offer players around the globe the chance to take advantage of bonuses, special encounters, and Special Research. Unlike the usual in-person events, there will just be one ticket to purchase, rather than a one-day and two-day option.

Chicago, Dortmund, and Yokohama hosted individual Pokémon GO Fest events that, in total, brought together over 600,000 Trainers for a special summer of live events.
This year, we’re bringing you a totally reimagined Pokémon GO Fest experience. Save the dates: on July 25 and 26, Pokémon GO Fest 2020 will take place as an entirely global event in a virtual format, which will allow Trainers worldwide to participate from wherever they play. In another first, all ticket holders will be able to attend both days of this two-day event.
While we’ll miss the traditional congregation of Pokémon GO fans, we’re thrilled to bring a special Pokémon GO Fest experience to Trainers. Not only are you in for an exciting weekend of bonuses, Pokémon encounters, and Special Research, there will also be exciting ways to connect with other Trainers and experience other fun surprises throughout the entire summer.”
The announcement went on to confirm that additional details will be arriving in the coming weeks, but for now, this is everything we know. More details on pricing and the exact bonuses will likely arrive sometime in June or early July, so we’ll be sure to follow along and most updates as they arrive.
