Without a doubt, Pokemon GO fans are highly anticipating the game’s holiday event for 2017, as the title’s latest datamine has revealed quite a big batch of gift boxes that are likely to arrive in the mobile ARG just in time for Christmas and New Year’s. Of course, while fans wait for the event to go live, they can at least be thankful for a recent quality-of-life change made by Niantic, as the “Leave” button has now been moved to the top of the gym battle screen after beating a Pokemon.

As seen in the image below from the Redditor and Pokemon GO trainer known as AyeGee, a gym battle with Snorlax serves as an example of how the change looks with the “Leave” button at the top of the screen. This will definitely improve players’ experiences, as it combats a particular error that crops up upon accidentally leaving a gym battle. Now, they will now be able to avoid inadvertently tapping the “Leave” button altogether.

Before Niantic’s decision to move the button much higher on the screen, some Pokemon GO fans had been receiving a notice called “Error 29,” which occurred following a player’s tapping of the “Leave” icon during a gym battle. The bug effectively locked players out of the gym for roughly 10 minutes until the issue finally wore off and let them back in to do battle.

This is definitely a nice bit of work from Niantic, but Pokemon GO still has plenty of problems that need to be addressed. For example, an older radar-related bug persists that has only worsened after the introduction of Gen-3 Pocket Monsters, making it extremely difficult to catch Pokemon in the game. Not to mention, there are also many players frustrated over the EX Raid System in the game, with lots of fans signing a petition to remove it.

All things considered, while Niantic’s shift of the “Leave” button to the top of Pokemon GO’s gym battle screen is far from the most important fix or feature being brought to the game, it is at least a small step in the right direction. So, perhaps one day fans will be able to rejoice over the addition of Pokemon Trading and PvP battles, but until then, players will have to remain content with this single little change.
