Pokemon Unite teased a brand new addition to the roster yesterday. The Twitter account shared a photo of arrows flying through the air, accompanied by a green smoky trail. Many quickly figured out that it’s Decidueye but more details have since surfaced thanks to a datamine. We now know they’ll cost 10,000 coins, arrive on November 19, and we even know their moves.

As expected, Decidueye starts as a Rowlet with Leafage and Astonish. At level five, they evolve into Dartrix and then, at level seven, they evolve to Decidueye, unlocking Razor Leaf and Spirit Shackle. At level eight, they get Leaf Storm and Shadow Sneak. Then, at level nine, they learn their Unite Move – Nock Nock.

Most of the moves are designed around hindering players’ movement speed while also damaging them. This side-effect can be seen across the board, so Decidueye should be a useful ‘mon for stopping retreats, letting you gang up on unsuspecting opponents who can do little but slump away. However, Decidueye’s Unite Move stops them from moving whatsoever. How the turn tables.

What’s important to note is that Decidueye is an Attacker ‘mon, particularly focused on ranged fighting. They’ll be arriving right on the tail of Greedent, a Defender, so it’s only fitting. However, players are still calling for the little squirrel to get nerfed, so let’s hope that Decidueye isn’t as broken, aye?

Normally, ‘mons are added on a Wednesday but Decidueye arrives on November 19, a Friday. This is likely to coincide with the launch of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, although Decidueye didn’t feature in either of those games. In fact, they were introduced in Gen Seven – Sun and Moon.

They corroborate the previous leaks which indicated Greedent, Decidueye, and Thievul would be added to the roster. So far, two out of three have been right, so it’s looking a lot like the fox is coming to Unite. What role they’ll play isn’t clear, but it’ll be interesting to get another ‘mon from one of the later generations. Hell, Thievul is as late as they get, coming from Sword and Shield. They could also just be another in-map mob, but that could indicate a new map – it’s exciting all around, regardless.
