An artist has shared a fun new piece of artwork to Twitter that combines Marvel’s Scarlet Witch and Disney’s Maleficent, just in time for Halloween.

Marvel’s Scarlet Witch meets Disney’s Maleficent in a fun new piece of crossover fan art, just in time for Halloween. Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has featured in a number of projects across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after making her first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015. Early this year, audiences saw Wanda officially become the highly powerful Scarlet Witch following the events of the Marvel/Disney+ series, WandaVision, that demonstrated Wanda’s potential power and proved her to be a true force to be reckoned with when it comes to power dynamics within the MCU.

Maleficent is one of Disney’s more iconic villains and has an instantly recognizable silhouette thanks to her towering presence and impressive headpiece. After first appearing as the antagonist in the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty, fans saw a different side of the evil fairy following the release of 2014’s Maleficent. The film, starring Angelina Jolie, put a brand-new spin on the classic Sleeping Beauty tale and showed the trauma and torment that Maleficent had suffered through, prior to becoming an ‘evil’ villain. Jolie reprised her role again in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and is set to return for a third film that is currently in development at Disney, though few details have been released at this time.

Now, the two powerful women have been combined in an exciting new piece of fan art. Artist Anastasia Ivanova (@enstatia) took to Twitter to share the art, that shows Wanda in full Maleficent get-up. The Marvel hero can be seen wearing Maleficent’s iconic headpiece and high-collared black cloak, whilst the Disney villain’s pet raven, Diaval, appears to perch on her arm. The art of one of an exciting series that Ivanova has created, in which Marvel heroes are combined with Disney villains. Check out the art below.

The stunning piece quickly garnered a lot of attention as many were quick to compliment the artist’s talents. Scarlet Witch and Maleficent’s powers are somewhat reminiscent of one another and there is certainly some overlap in the pair’s abilities, with magic being the basis of what they are able to perform. Maleficent is also capable of hypnosis, which is similar to Wanda’s mind control abilities. Maleficent is considered to be the most powerful Disney Villain, while Scarlet Witch is certainly up there amongst the strongest of the MCU heroes, making the pair a fantastic match for one another.

Despite both Scarlet Witch and Maleficent being Disney properties, it’s unlikely audiences will ever see the pair alongside one another since they dwell in entirely different universes, but it certainly is fun to see the two powerful characters combined in such a way. However, with Jolie set to make her MCU debut in just a couple of weeks in the upcoming Eternals, an on-screen meeting between Jolie and Olsen is certainly not off the table at all. As for now, fans can look forward to seeing which Marvel and Disney characters Ivanova decides to combine next.
