Although the acclaimed sitcom, Seinfeld doesn’t have a traditional Christmas episode, it includes plots that center around the holiday times and the philosophy of gifting and wishing people.

Seinfeld’s holiday episodes brilliantly keep up with the show’s overall theme of dark humor, superficiality, and irreverence. Jerry and his friends correctly depicted that the significant aspects of the holiday season (such as donations, offerings, and excessive consumption) were, in fact, rooted in mundane and petty conflicts of everyday life. Therefore, in the spirit of the holiday season, it’s imperative to go through the following hilarious memes that accurately describe the Seinfeldian Christmas.

9 Poor Georgie

A post shared by Paul Siegler (@thug_o_war)

George Costanza, infamous for his cheapskate moments, was often a target of Elaine’s ire on the show. This particular time in “The Pick,” Elaine was angered because her Christmas card portrait revealed a bit more décolletage than she wanted.

Elaine was understandably sad about the mishap and would have preferred peace and quiet that day. But when George kept saying everyone but him had received the greeting card, her anger manifested in violence, as seen in the meme above. Though fans definitely don’t endorse Elaine’s way of greeting, seeing as George’s afflictions were mostly due to ill-timing, it makes this meme funnier. On a side note, Elaine failing to cope with her anger is one of the aspects of her character that just wouldn’t fly today.

8 The Festivus Pole Vs. The Christmas Tree

A post shared by Let’s Eat Cake (@letseatcakeblog)

“The Strike” reveals that Frank Costanza invented an alternative holiday to Christmas, and named it – the Festivus. It’s strongly anti-consumeristic, therefore by extension, an egalitarian holiday. Frank celebrates the Festivus on December 23 every year and it typically begins with the airing of grievances at dinner.

The defining feature of the Festivus is that it discards the Christmas tree for an unadorned ammonium pole. The meme above draws a direct (and hilarious) comparison between the benefits of using the pole and a tree. Most fans would prefer an aluminum pole seeing as it can be totally repurposed for hanging coats and is eco-friendly.

7 The Invention That Changed Kramer’s World

A post shared by Matt Vandenberg (@vandenberg41)

When Kramer learns about the Festivus in season 9, he nudges Costanza Sr. to bring it back. His exact words are, “Frank, this new holiday of yours is scratching me right where I itch.” The anti-consumption consciousness appeals more to Kramer because he’s revealed to be a member H&H Bagels association that has just won its 12-year-long wage strike.

Frank’s slogan “A Festivus for the rest of us” serves the watershed moment in the sitcom genre, otherwise having a reputation for pandering to consumer culture. That’s precisely the reason why this Seinfeld still has been made into a timeless meme, as seen above.

6 Christmas Came Early

A post shared by Seinfeld (@seinfeldtv)

Every Christmas enthusiast believes that it’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit. Whilst Elaine (judging solely from this meme) may not be one of them, but she had definitely been around the lot of them.

There’s are many ways to get into the festive spirit, starting with, laying out decorations, hanging lights, and playing Christmas music. There really are no rules to this thing. However, October maybe a tad too soon to do any of that. Maybe wait until the beginning of November?

5 It’s The Spirit That Counts

A post shared by Melanie Campbell Lester (@cmelgo123)

Ah, a moment that speaks volumes to Seinfeld loyalists. Who knew Kramer’s shameless act of getting himself and his friend sacked on Christmas would be turned into a memorable Seinfeld meme. Season 6’s “The Race” sees Kramer working as a department store Santa Claus at Coleman’s.

It’s all fun and games until he meets Elaine’s boyfriend, Ned Isakoff who leads him towards communism. Kramer’s stint doesn’t last long because he’s found guilty of preaching communism to little children at the store. Regardless, this meme above is memorable because even Kramer knows to modify his signature entrance bit to keep up the Christmas spirit.

4 Santa Is Devoid of Any Political Influence

A post shared by Seinfeld (@seinfeldtv)

After Kramer got himself and Mickey sacked at Coleman’s, he revealed he didn’t realize communism could ruffle feathers. As strange as that was, Kramer wasn’t the only person who was affected by this ill-timed sacking. His good friend, Mickey who’d stuck his neck out to get him the job was fired as well. Moreover, the store kids were distressed to hear all that commie talk on their day out.

This meme tries to undo the damage that Kramer inflicted on Santa’s reputation. Santa must remain an apolitical figure who is adored by the kids.

3 Two Sides Of The Same Tree

A post shared by Seinfeld (@seinfeldcaps)

The popular notion that the Christmas tree backside is not as fancier as the front side hasn’t escaped Seinfeld fans’ attention. The “Back of the Christmas Tree” meme makes fans immediately think about the “hipster doofus,” Kramer who due to his versatility could go from debonair to shabby in no time.

This particular meme juxtaposes Kramer’s cool look from “The Wig Master” against his disfigured face in “The Abstinence” to parody the notion that the back of a Christmas tree is less fancy than the front. It’s hilarious, and it does the job.

2 The Joy Of Christmas Carols

A post shared by Seinfeld Squad (@seinfeldsquad)

George Costanza was a bit of a job-hopper and one among his several stints included a pretend sales rep at a rest stop supply company. Costanza took up this pretend stint in “The Barber” without having so much as a word of confirmation from the boss. There’s obviously a lot to unpack here. The interview had ended abruptly, and in absence of his prospective employer, George showed up to work and pretended to have reached a tacit agreement with him. Because he knew absolutely nothing about his first assignment, he spent a good work week loafing about, as seen above.

Geroge may not be the most ethical interviewee, but he does a very good job of drumming the tabletop with those pencils. Who knew meme-makers could wisely combine The Twelve Days of Christmas carol lyrics with George’s drumming still and turn it into a brilliant meme?

1 The Human Fund

A post shared by Seinfeld (@seinfeldcaps)

Only the cheapskate Costanza would pitch the idea of bringing Pepsi to a dinner party and hand out Christmas card donations in peoples’ names to a fake charity called the Human Fund. Season 9’s “The Strike,” revealed that the Costanzas found an odd, almost sinister kind of joy in penny-pinching.

The Costanza patriarch celebrated the Festivus and as for Costanza Jr, he cranked his father’s anti-consumerism rant up a notch and decided to discard the whole give-and-get philosophy to save money. He made up a charity and handed out fake donation cards to people down at Kruger Industrial Smoothing. The scheme undeniably has “a certain understated stupidity,” and is made into a meme on account of its subtle hilarity.
