Those who preordered Final Fantasy VII Remake through Square Enix need to confirm their order by February 28, 2020 due to the change in release date or they’ll lose it.

So far, 2020 is a pretty loaded year when it comes to big releases in the gaming world. The trouble is, some of the biggest titles of the year has already been delayed. They will all still be released before the end of the year, providing none of them are delayed again, but now gamers looking forward to playing them have a little longer to wait.

Considering the domino effect that took place after the first delay was announced, it felt like a case of who was going to blink first. Final Fantasy VII Remake was delayed until April, then Marvel’s Avengers release date was moved back to September, and then Cyberpunk 2077 was subject to a changed release date, too.

Gamers savvy enough to preorder any of the titles mentioned above might think they don’t have anything to worry about. They might assume their copy is secured no matter how long the release date is delayed, but that’s not strictly true. FFVII Remake developer Square Enix has revealed that anyone who preordered the game through it will need to confirm their order or potentially lose out on their copy of the game.

“Due to the release date change to April 10th, you must opt-in by February 28th for your order not to be canceled,” Square Enix revealed. Anyone who has preordered the game through the developer should have received an email asking them to confirm their order. If you’re one of those people but haven’t received any such email, now might be the time to check that junk folder.

In a time where games can be downloaded rather than needing to buy and own a physical copy, some might wonder what all the fuss is about. Well, believe it or not, some people still prefer to own physical copies of video games. What’s more, Square Enix goes on to say there are limited quantities of the game available. Plus, gamers who have preordered a First Class Edition of the game might lose out, as those have completely sold out at the time of typing this, according to Siliconera.
