This Week In Pokemon New Short Film Fan Theories Confirmed And More

It’s been a quiet week in Pokemon this week – probably because we’re all too busy playing Legends: Arceus. Game Freak doesn’t really have to do anything when we’re all so glued to our screens.

But with so many fans playing, it means that we’re discovering things about the game. That’s the main focus of our round-up this week, as Legends: Arceus continues to be full of additions to the lore of Pokemon.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Confirms Long-Standing Fan Theory About A “Pikachu Line”

There’s a bunch of Pokemon that look fairly reminiscent of series mascot, Pikachu. While this was almost definitely an attempt to capitalize on the electric-types worldwide adoration, it was enough to fuel a fan theory that there is a “Pikachu line” of Pokemon, with several ‘Mons all coming from the same family. Surprisingly, Legends: Arceus actually confirms this. The Pokedex entry for Pachirisu refers to it as a “species related to the Pikachu line”. This seems to confirm that the rest of the Pokemon in the theory are related too, as it is officially an entire line, rather than just the two ‘Mon being related.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Player Catches Gyarados Mid-Air With A Hail Mary Pokeball

Catching Pokemon in Legends: Arceus can be territfying and frustrating. Even if they’re not hellbent on attacking you, some of them really make you work for it. This trainer got luck like we’ve never seen before, however. Somehow, they managed to catch a flying Gyarados from what appears to be about a hundred feet away. The player says that they dropped their controller in awe, and honestly, same.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Hisuian Growlithe Distribution Event Starting February 25

Legends: Arceus is getting its first Pokemon distribution event – but it isn’t an online mystery gift. Players who bring their Switch to a participating GameStop outlet between February 25 and March 13 can pick up an Hisuian Growlithe and 20 feather balls. Obviously if, like me, your country doesn’t have GameStop, this leaves you a little stuck. Alas, there is no word on whether or not this event will take place outside of the US right now.

Ash And Pikachu Experience Future Shock In New Pokemon Short A Ripple In Time

In our only non-Legends: Arceus related piece this week, it’s good news for fans on the anime series. A Ripple In Time is a short, six minute film, and is a collaboration between the Pokemon anime director Kunihiko Yuyama, and New York-based artist Daniel Arsham. The film, which revolves around Ash and Pikachu being sent to a future where the humans have died out, is available to watch on YouTube now. It was created to promote Arsham’s Tokyo art exhibitions, which are – of course – Pokemon themed. At the time of writing, there’s no English dub, but there are subtitles.
