Two Point Hospital, the spiritual successor to the 1997 business simulator Theme Hospital, has officially introduced its sandbox mode update across all platforms.

The game puts players into the shoes of a hospital manager. Build and furnish your hospital, and make sure your staff is trained to deal with the shenanigans Two Point Hospital throws your way. While the game doesn’t give you the same freedom of design that The Sims franchise does, for instance, sandbox mode goes a long way toward enabling the same kinds of antics.

PC players have had access to sandbox mode since 2018, but the game’s newest update has extended the sandbox mode to console players on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. And best of all? It’s totally free.

Sandbox mode allows players to have free rein of the game. Want more money? There’s a slider for that. Want to pack patients into your hospital like sardines? You can do that too! From temperature settings to disasters and VIP visits, Sandbox mode gives players access to just about everything. All rooms, all items, and all upgrades available in the game can be accessed in sandbox mode, allowing for customizable challenges or as much chaos as your game can handle before crashing.

Players unlock sandbox mode after reaching a one-star rating in their first three hospitals. After that, players can activate sandbox mode on any of the game’s 15 levels, which is a godsend for folks who have been getting frustrated by their hospitals bursting into flames. Sometimes adhering to superfluous standards like training staff members or keeping things tidy are better off bypassed completely!

Aside from boasting an art style remarkably similar to Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit, Two Point Hospital has also been praised for its sense of humor and all-around wacky gameplay. With diseases such as cubism, pandemic (of the kitchenware variety), Premature Mummification, and light-headedness—which has nothing to do with anemia and everything to do with Thomas Edison having fun with your head—Two Point Hospital has plenty to keep you entertained.

Two Point Hospital is available for $34.99 on Steam, and folks who can’t get enough content can pick up any of the five DLC for under $10 each.
