Chloe Sullivan’s story continued long after Smallville ended with its tenth season. The character’s future after Clark Kent (Tom Welling) became Superman was greatly expanded on in the Smallville Season 11 comic. The comic explored the married life she enjoyed with Justin Hartley’s Oliver Queen, and built on her association with the Justice League.

Played by Allison Mack, Chloe Sullivan was a character original to Smallville and a member of Clark’s circle of friends going all the way back to season 1. She was also the only main character (other than Clark) to appear in all ten seasons of the series. After secretly learning the truth about Clark in season 4 and being brought into his confidence in season 5, Chloe quickly became Clark’s most important ally. She was integral to his battles with Brainiac, the reborn General Zod, Doomsday, Darkseid, and more. Thanks to her hacking skills, she served as a key asset to the Justice League as “Watchtower.” In Smallville’s final season, Chloe married Oliver, and the two moved to Star City to start a life together.

In the flashforward to seven years in the future shown in the Smallville series finale, it was revealed that Chloe and Oliver had a son and were now living in Singapore. The Smallville Season 11 comic dove into this time gap, and explained what happened to her leading up to this point in her life. In the beginning of the comic book continuation, Chloe started establishing Justice League bases in various cities. During this time, Chloe helped the heroes investigate a murder mystery involving Batman, a character Chloe had encountered in Smallville offscreen during the series’ run.

Later, Chloe became vital to Smallville’s version of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which was a story that saw the Monitors attempt to destroy all of reality. It was a Chloe doppelganger from another timeline that tipped them off to what was happening. Once they developed an understanding of what was going on, the main version of Chloe used her resources to assist the Justice League in saving the universe. Once it was all over, Chloe’s skillset was acknowledged by Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, with the latter making Green Arrow the leader of a new superhero team.

Chloe, who was pregnant for much of the series, gave birth to her son at the end of Smallville Season 11. Her story ended on a positive and hopeful note, with Chloe finding herself and her newborn child surrounded by dozens of superheroes, all of which were characters she had befriended on the show and in the comic continuation. It felt fitting, given everything that had happened to her. Chloe went through numerous tragedies on Smallville, including the deaths of her first husband, Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and her mother. Despite all of that, Chloe preserved and remained committed to helping Clark. It certainly seemed deserving that Chloe’s Smallville story would conclude with a happy ending.
