A new poster for Amazon’s Wheel of Time series shows the forces of evil being sent to hunt down Rand al’Thor and his friends from Emond’s Field. Based on the best-selling fantasy series penned by the late Robert Jordan (and later finished by Brandon Sanderson), this latest fantasy epic draws upon one of the most popular works of modern fantasy ever written. Due to premiere on Prime Video on Friday, November 19 with the first three episodes, the remaining episodes will stream each week until December 24.

With the series premiere looming ever closer, Amazon is busily ramping up their promotion of what is expected to be a major hit for the streamer, who also has a Lord of the Rings series currently in production. In September eager fans got to see the first official trailer, where Rosamund Pike’s character Moraine provides a brief overview of the fascinating lore driving the series. Fans also managed to get their first glimpses of the evil which threatens the show’s heroes, in the form of the terrifying creatures known as Trollocs and Myrddraal.

More recently Amazon has released a new poster featuring Moraine, her loyal Warder al’Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), and the rest of the Emond’s Field five around whom the show revolves. What sets this latest official artwork apart, however, is the looming threat of the eyeless Myrddraal and the brutal human/animal hybrids known as Trollocs. Check out the new poster below:

In the original books, the sadistic and carnivorous Trollocs were creatures created eons ago to serve in the Dark One’s armies, twisted into being by the Dreadlords who served him during the War of the Shadow. Being less than intelligent creatures, however, they often require the harsh guidance of the even more frightening Myrddraal or Fades. Deadly, quick, and recognizable by their deathly pale skin and complete lack of eyes, Myrddraal also possesses the unsettling ability to disappear into, or move between shadows. More importantly, they can also sense when an Aes Sedai like Moraine channels the magical force known as the One Power and track them.

When work on the Wheel of Time adaptation first began, fans of the books were wondering exactly how accurately these creatures would be represented on screen. Their first brief appearance in last month’s trailer, and now in this new official poster, certainly doesn’t disappoint and proves that executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins is ensuring his adaptation remains loyal to the most important components of the source material. With both Jordan’s wife and editor, Harriet McDougal, and author of the final books in the series, Brandon Sanderson, each serving as consulting producers, it would be fair to assume Amazon is doing their utmost to do Jordan’s work justice. With Wheel of Time’s premiere just over a month away, the show is bound to resonate both with existing fans of the books and new audiences alike.
